Wellness Committee SY 2024-2025

KRS Wellness Polices

Kentucky is taking a whole school, whole community, and whole child approach to wellness to address the nutritional and physical activity needs of our students.  KRS 158.856 and KRS 160.345 are our legislative requirements.

1. Conduct an annual evaluation of nutrition and physical activity. (Schools input into Alliance for a Healthier Generation)

2. Post a report on the district website about the schools' physical activity and nutrition 60 days before a public forum.( Posted October on the Food Service Webpage)

3. Discuss findings of the nutrition and physical activity report and seek public comment. (Ongoing since Alliance for a Healthier Generation Report Post in October)

4. Hold a forum by January 31st of each year to present a plan to improve school nutrition and physical activity. (January 8th, 2025 from 3:00-3:30 in Cafeteria)

  1. Report to the Board Meeting (January 9th, 2024 at 6:00)
  2. Compile a summary of district findings and recommendations to the department of education by May 1st.

Your comments and suggestions will be used to develop a plan to improve the school nutrition and physical activity environment. 

*The Trigg County School District’s Local Wellness Committee will hold a public forum on January 8th, 2025, at 3:00 pm in the cafeteria. During the forum, the district wellness committee will discuss ideas for improving the school nutrition and physical activity environment.
