Welcome to the Trigg County Gifted and Talented Program!

In accordance with 704 KAR 3:285, the purpose of the Trigg County Gifted and Talented Program is to identify and provide services for students from Primary through twelfth (12) grade.  In the 4th-12th grades, these areas include General Intellect, Creativity, Leadership, Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies, Art, Music, Drama, and Dance.  Primary students informally selected as having characteristics and behaviors of a high potential learner are serviced through the Primary Talent Pool (PTP).  In order to be placed in the Gifted and Talented or Primary Talent Pool, a minimum of three (3) pieces of evidence must be collected.

Primary Talent Pool (PTP)

The PTP is made up of informally selected students in grades K-3 who demonstrate characteristics and behaviors of a high potential learner.  At the end of grade 3, students in the Primary Talent Pool may or may not qualify for gifted and talented services.

Gifted and talented students

Formal identification occurs in the 4th-12th grades in one of the eleven areas of giftedness. In order to qualify for an area, there must be at least three pieces of evidence. There are exceptions and considerations for eligibility.  School personnel should take into account environmental, cultural, and disabling conditions which may mask a child’s true abilities.  Administrators, guidance counselors, and teachers work together to meet the needs of our gifted learners.

Please do not hesitate to contact Gifted Services with any questions or concerns.
